PGP Teams Up with Glendale Agricultural Society to Launch Autumn Activity Pack for Local Schools

Promoting potato farming education, Particularly Good Potatoes and Glendale Agricultural Society team up to inspire the next generation with hands-on learning and creative activities.

To celebrate National Farm to School Month, Particularly Good Potatoes (PGP) is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with the Glendale Agricultural Society (GAS) to produce a special Autumn Activity Pack for schools across the North East.

Building on the success of Glendale’s annual Children’s Countryside Day in June, this new initiative aims to provide fun, educational content for children during the upcoming October half term, while fostering a deeper understanding of farming and agriculture.

The Autumn Activity Pack includes a range of interactive materials, from puzzles and craft ideas to information on potato harvesting, the history of farming, and the advanced machinery we use today. This carefully curated pack is designed to keep children engaged during the school break while continuing their learning journey outside the classroom.

“By offering insight into modern farming techniques and agricultural history, we hope to spark curiosity and appreciation for the farming industry among young minds”, says Gemma Douglas, Event Manager for Glendale Agricultural Society.

The Glendale Agricultural Society, which has been promoting farming and rural education in the region for over 120 years, plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between agriculture and local communities. Their annual Children’s Countryside Day is a key event that gives young students hands-on experiences in farming and rural life. By working with PGP on this project, the society is expanding its educational outreach to continue inspiring and educating young people about the importance of farming and local food production.

“PGP’s contribution to the pack is centred around potato farming, highlighting our harvesting processes, the equipment we use, and the vital role potatoes play in British agriculture. With our roots firmly planted in Northumberland, we’re proud to help children connect with the farming community, especially during harvest season”, concluded Mark Robson, Founder of Particularly Good Potatoes.

The Autumn Activity Pack has been distributed to schools across the North East, providing both entertainment and valuable education about farming during the half-term holiday. Glendale Agricultural Society and Particularly Good Potatoes hope that this initiative will not only keep children busy but also encourage them to explore the fascinating world of farming.
